Master Chef of VIS!

Sounds great na? Yeah it was indeed!

VISians are versatile! Given a chance, we can do anything, even cooking. Usually boys shirk away from cooking, but here at Virka everyone is a gem. So, when the thought of organizing a ‘Cooking Competition’ was discussed, everyone started planning and to our surprise, we had more than 35 dishes to choose from on the day of the event, and it was really hard to judge that which dish is better than the other.

Besides ‘Western Snacks’ like Pasta, Crispy Veg with Baby Corn, we had some tempting dishes from ‘Himachal and South-India’ like Amua, Madhra, Idli-Sambhar and Masala Idli. Speaking about mouth-watering desserts, we had various types of Halwa, Kheer, Pineapple Pie, Chocolate Cake, Fruit Cream etc.

Everyone was quite excited about this. All participants emphasized on eye-catching presentation of the food along with offering it the ‘winning-taste.’ The inviting fragrance of food was enough to get the saliva dripping from our taste buds.

But every competition is incomplete without a wise judgment. After tasting each dish, Mr. Amit Arora declared the winners. The prize of Master Chef of VIS was taken home by Swati Sharma for amazing ‘Himachali Dishes’ prepared by her. Second prize was bagged by Gaurav Sharma for Madhra, which was again a tasty Himachali Dish, and Leena snapped the third prize for an attractive presentation of her Masala Idli. It was a pleasant experience to see IT Professionals showing their culinary skills.

VISIANs Hail “Chalo Dilli”!

With everybody ready to see what Vinay Pathak and Lara Dutta cook up in their latest flick Chalo Dilli, all everybody could do, was make guesses! While some of us took the metro way, the others travelled by road, to reach PVR Plaza in Connaught Place. What better place to watch Chalo Dilli, than in the hub of the Dilli itself!

As the movie started rolling, we were introduced to an epic businesswoman that is Lara’s character, Mihika missing her flight due to a road block caused by a layman, Manu Gupta. But her woes and eventual happiness, are connected to this typical Dilliwala!

Manu’s paan is too big for his mouth, and he has a ‘secret pocket’ for money that can be stolen in no way possible! Although situated in a highly repulsive place, the same pocket comes in handy, when Mihika doesn’t have enough ‘chutta’ to pay for a magazine!

Thus starts the laughter ride that VISIANs go on, as the road trip to Delhi takes one unexpectedly hilarious turn after another. The best thing was the movie had an underlying motive that was given through a constant line delivered by Vinay’s character, “To kaunsi badi baat ho gai?!”

This idea does come through in the end, telling us that a problem is not really as big as we make it to be! The movie definitely had us in tears both with laughter, and sorrow at the revelation made in the end!

After the movie came the photo session, which was thoroughly enjoyable as well! All in all, an exciting day indeed!

Virka Premier League-May 14, 2011

Life has really become hectic these days. We usually forget those things which gave us utmost satisfaction while we were kids. But hey guys! We at Virka keep on doing certain things for our people to make them forget the hectic schedules and tiring targets (And I bet, people will agree on this).

VPL

So this time, we decided to have an outdoor event and nothing can be better than having a cricket match to encash the IPL Fever. The only idea of playing cricket match ignited the spark in VISians and they were ready to be the next Dhoni’s and Sachin’s. It was decided that we will be having cricket match during the noon time and OMG! It was a surprise to see all the VISians present in the ground and cheering for their team mates. Not to forget our daring team’s names! It was a clash of Virka Warriors and Mighty VISians. Although both teams played really well, but in the end, the winner is the one, who can defeat his competitor. So, the winner trophy was taken home by Mighty VISians.

Every activity is incomplete without a feast, so it was great to have yummy burgers and chilled ice-cream with cold drinks in the pavilion. Those three hours spent in the ground gave us the moment to realize that still, Dil toh Bacha hai jii.

G3 Summit (Gulaal, Gujiya & Govinda Contest) at Virka

It was truly a ‘Rang Barse’ ambience that marked the contours of Virka Infotech on March 18, 2011.

Well, VISians seldom leave an opportunity to unwind themselves and if it’s a festival then our gusto escalates even higher.

Our tete-a-tete with the multitude of colors got kick started on 17th only when colorful impressions of palm were embossed on a white sheet. Yellow thumb and green fingers bore heartfelt wishes for our colleagues thus, adding more hues to the celebration mood.

After a day’s work on the D-day, we finally decided to give it a shot in a truly Virkan style!

Everyone was greeted with a ‘chandan tika’. A bowl of toffees also adorned the front office to pamper the employees for a kid resides inside each one of us. Isn’t it?

Guys and gals had come prepared each one of them vying for the prize of the ‘Govinda Competition’.

And man!  That wasn’t easy to decide. Finally it was Shalini Negi from the SEO team and Shruti Sharma from the Content Writer’s team who bagged the title for being draped in colors one can count!

It was time for gujiyas and thandai (Mind you! Without Bhaang, C’mon guys, we are professionals!)

Soon, we were at loggerheads with each other (not literally) as teams confronted each other in ‘dumb-charades’. While movies were hard to guess, funny gestures gave hilarious moments to one and all.

Finally, it was time for the real action. And so it began. Yellow was followed by red, green, pink and its mixture! No one was spared.

This way, Holi celebrations culminated an aura of fun and frolic which meant a lot, especially for those who are away from their hometowns.

Vive-la Virka and its sporting traditions.

Unstoppable VISIANS make the Holi spirit come alive!

VISIANS are known for offering their whole hearted participation to anything; be it work or recreation. When Holi celebration engulfed them with full vigor, they unleashed their freewheeling spirit to enjoy it to the core.

The day of sprinkling colors signifying ‘Unity in Diversity’, kick started with ‘Rangoli Making’ contest. The various teams involved were not sweating it out to win or loose, they were just enjoying painting their imaginations with multi-colors. While someone had the ongoing world cup in the mind, others were not far behind, with an enrapturing peacock design being enlivened.

The office-environment took the tinge of an amusement-erupting carnival, with no one spared from its infectious charm. While feelings were being stimulated by surfacing of a colorful atmosphere, the taste buds gave in to the appetizing aroma of gujiyas and thandai.

What followed next was a riot of riots, with colors flying all around and taking over all differences. What was left to be seen on every face was just an expression; an expression that implied that joy is unconditional.

This Holi, VISIANS definitely had an absolute fun blast!

A Fun-filled Bash At The Heart Of Delhi- a Perfect Start To The New Year!

I remember, our Boss wrote a mail on the New Year’s Eve saying: Work Hard Party Harder…….

And that’s what we followed….

After endless discussions, we decided to spend time together at @live (a pub), located in the heart of Delhi-Connaught Place. It was a wonderful experience, having it all- the chirpy noises ,the hulla-gulla, the photo session, the ambience, the lightning, the comfort, the fun, the laughs, the mocktails, the arrangements and above all ,everybody’s happiness.

New Year’2011 actually brought so much that it can’t be expressed in words. Since the beginning was so good, I’m hopeful that the days to follow would be pleasure-filled alike. All thanks to Sagar Sir and Amit Sir for the wonderful evening.

Awaiting many more bashes like these in the days to come!!!!

A new day has come, so let’s welcome this newness wholeheartedly, so that it can enlighten our path in the days and months to follow!

So, to Bid Adieu to 2010, and welcome the New Year with enhanced enthusiasm, Management of Virka Group threw a New Year bash on Jan.8, 2011 at Basant Resorts. Everybody from Ludhiana office marked their presence at the place to have a gala time. A dance party was arranged for all, followed by a delicious dinner with the bonfire. All were thrilled with this idea. The girls were nicely dressed in the best of their dresses and all the boys were looking dashing too. All were really grooving on the dance numbers, played by the DJ. It was great to see each and everybody jumping on the dance floor and dancing madly. It was a chilling evening of January, but our people had set the dance floor on fire completely.

That’s not all! Tarundeep composed a poem, which was dedicated to Virka Group. He sang it for all and that really touched everyone present there. Even there was a moment when all were humming tunes and it was hard to make out whether the music was on or off.  The food was good too and to have it aside bonfire made for a memorable experience. It was an evening, which has created unforgettable memories for all of us and we will cherish them for whole of our lives as this party has carved a special niche in our hearts!

A warm farewell to 2010!

31st Of December marks the end of the year, but in VIS, we try to make each moment of the year as special and pleasure-filled as it can ever be. And let me tell you guys that it’s true even. We all at Virka are fun loving folks, who can have fun anywhere and anytime. When there is huge number of people involved, even a small activity can spread a wave of fun and excitement among all. The same happened, when on 31st Dec, 2010, we had an activity session, Colors of Joy. The session was followed by a Birthday Bash in the lunch break, which is actually our monthly affair.

Usually in our activity sessions, we conduct some teambuilding games or ice-breaking sessions. But this time, instead of these activities, we decided to have some fun .Since it was the last working day of the year 2010, we decided to bid farewell to the passing year in a humorous way. The activities that we had this time were so humorous, so funny that everybody laughed till their sides ached. The first activity, ‘Ad-Mad Show’ really made everyone mad with the hilarious performance of the participants in varied characters. The second activity, Fish in the Bowl was amazing too. There was so much fun everywhere. Even the seniors were performing as if they were small kids having fun in the playground. Actually on that day, we saw the colors of joy in the form of bright and lovely faces of all our co-workers. In the end of the session, everybody wrote Thanks note and Resolution for the coming year.

So this is how, we bid farewell to 2010 and welcomed 2011!

Christmas Celebration- A Never Before Experience!

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!

Santa Claus is coming along, riding on the sledge!!!

Christmas is especially an auspicious occasion, marking the year’s end, which brings along cloudy days, foggy mornings and ice-cold nights.

But in Virka, it is celebrated as the symbol of festivities, joy and togetherness every year. The colorful, bright environment of this fiesta gives birth to a mesmerizing spirit everywhere. So, to make every moment of this occasion special, VISians decided to enjoy it to the fullest. The pleasing aura of Christmas seemed like amalgamated in the air, when everyone in the office was dressed in the decided color code of red and white. It was a pleasure to see everyone dressed beautifully and the entrancing décor of the office served like a cherry on the cake. The office was elegantly decorated with colorful balloons, having a beautifully-decorated Christmas tree as its centre of attraction.

Well, that was not all! To add more fillip to this occasion, Management arranged a movie show for all at the PVR cinemas in the evening. And it was none other than, the much-awaited release of the year, ‘Tees Maar Khaan’ starring stunning Akshay Kumar and glamorous Katrina Kaif. Everyone was overjoyed to watch the blockbuster and had a ‘real blast’ in every sense of the words!
