DESI BOYS- Yes, this is the movie we watched last week with our colleagues. Starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh, the movie was a complete package of entertainment. Right from its star cast to storyline to climax, it made for an interesting watch. Every single scene of the movie was packed with so much hilarity that we couldn’t afford to move our eyes from it, even for a second.

And to increase the entertainment quotient, we had the company of our lovely friends and colleagues. It was a welcome change to see the otherwise hard-working and dedicated guys and gals having the time of their lives, while the Desi Boys dazzled the screens with their charismatic persona.

Such a fun-filled evening not only rejuvenated all, but also provided them with enough zest to start their work next morning with new fervor and enthusiasm.

Cheers to the spirit of Virka!

This time, the acknowledgement wasn’t just heart-warming, it was mouth-watering as well!!
It was decided that the team with the highest output will be having a lunch with the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Amit Arora. For the month of September, the winner was Edogo team (Harish Kuchawa, Vikrant, Anuj, Amrita, Gaurav Sharma, Gaurav Marjara, Sunny, Chinky, Simrat, Gurdev and Gurinder along with their Group Lead-Karan got a chance to satiate their hunger with delicious dishes, while having a light-hearted chit-chat with Mr. Arora.
Wow! Can anything be better than this award to boost the morale of employees? I bet, ‘team lunch’ is the hands-down winner as it signifies “We are one family, dedicated to achieve a common goal”!

This year also, a gala celebration was arranged on the occasion of Diwali. Credit for creating lively environment goes to Parul, Jaswinder, Shabnam, Tulsi, Satinder, Isha and Sanjeev who managed to come on Sunday to decorate the whole office. Since 26th was off on account of Diwali, we organized Diwali Mela on October 24th at 2:45pm. To truly relish the aura of festivities, all were asked to clad themselves in ethnic wear. Different activities were planned to make the celebrations interesting like Tambola, Musical Chair, Dumb Charades and Best Dressed Male and Female awards, which were bagged by Vikas Verma and Parwinder respectively.

It was an amazing moment to see people running madly to occupy chairs in Musical Chairs. Can you imagine guys dancing on numbers like Munni and Sheela? Well, anything is possible at Virka. The guys, who won prizes in Tambola, were made to dance on Munni and Sheela ki Jawani. To keep the audience involved, Tarundeep played an important role of an electrifying anchor and hosted the whole event along with Deepika and Amrita. A separate corner in the office was decorated with ethnic phulkaris, pots and other traditional Punjabi stuff to create a village kind look. That was especially made for the photo sessions and was appreciated by everyone.

This event had everything, be it games, traditional snacks or foot-tapping music which a real mela should have. At the fall of the evening, we concluded it by offering Aarti to Maa Lakshmi, followed by Diwali distribution by Amit Sir. Heartfelt thanks to everyone, who made this event amazing with their much appreciated presence.

Virka have always been a supporter of the culture, wherein the youngsters can choose an option, where their educational and career goals are met at the same time. Virka has always supported education, created employment, which is otherwise a major concern for our country.

Now Virka has another role to play, that is, supporting the helpless and underprivileged strata of our society. It has landed his helping hand to support the old and needy people of Nishkam Sewa Ashram, run by Nishkam Trust, where many old and left-out people of the society are staying. The trust provides them clothes, shelter, medicines and treatment. This trust also runs schools for children and adults, stitching centers and training centers. All the employees of Virka also contributed towards this noble cause by donating their old clothes and other household stuff. These kinds of initiatives should be taken by all the corporates, because by these things, they will be able to repay their debt towards the society.

The launch was celebrated at our both locations at the same time. The celebrations started after Mr. Amit (Director-Virka Infotech Pvt Ltd.) sliced the cake and shared few words with the employees. A tempting veg and non-veg buffet was arranged and employees had great time feasting on the delicious snacks. That was not all. At Virka, we don’t leave any opportunity to shake our legs on the beats of music. The whole environment was filled with fun and spirit of achievement!

This movement created awareness among the citizens of the India and most importantly, it awakened our youth, which now understands that they have to take a stand against corruption for their better future.

This movement spread like wildfire in the whole country, and corporate sector, which is otherwise considered neutral, also showed support to Anna’s movement by protesting in their own way.

Professional sites like LinkedIn were flooded with requests and appeals from the professionals to support Anna Hazare by wearing black on August 19 in the offices or a black badge to show the support. Maximum no. of corporate houses and officials made it successful by wearing black.

The similar effect was seen at Virka Infotech Pvt Ltd, where all the employees wore black and supported Anna’s movement against corruption.

By staying indoors, this was our way to say that Anna Hazare, we are with you! Let’s bring Lokpal Bill and remove corruption from our Hindustaan!

In order to awaken that feeling in the VISians, a Motivational Capsule was presented by Captain Parth Ashok Narang and Mr. Vikram from ProEd, a leading name in corporate training, in the premises of Virka Infotech Pvt Limited.

The session started with a warm up exercise to involve each and everyone present there. I must say, Captain Parth’s way of delivering the session was amazing and full of energy. He made everyone to participate into the session. It included many team building activities and ice breakers too. All were truly amazed and appreciated the management for arranging this eye-opener session, which proved out to be a fun activity and a source of enlightenment at the same time.

VISians are versatile! Given a chance, we can do anything, even cooking. Usually boys shirk away from cooking, but here at Virka everyone is a gem. So, when the thought of organizing a ‘Cooking Competition’ was discussed, everyone started planning and to our surprise, we had more than 35 dishes to choose from on the day of the event, and it was really hard to judge that which dish is better than the other.

Besides ‘Western Snacks’ like Pasta, Crispy Veg with Baby Corn, we had some tempting dishes from ‘Himachal and South-India’ like Amua, Madhra, Idli-Sambhar and Masala Idli. Speaking about mouth-watering desserts, we had various types of Halwa, Kheer, Pineapple Pie, Chocolate Cake, Fruit Cream etc.

Everyone was quite excited about this. All participants emphasized on eye-catching presentation of the food along with offering it the ‘winning-taste.’ The inviting fragrance of food was enough to get the saliva dripping from our taste buds.

But every competition is incomplete without a wise judgment. After tasting each dish, Mr. Amit Arora declared the winners. The prize of Master Chef of VIS was taken home by Swati Sharma for amazing ‘Himachali Dishes’ prepared by her. Second prize was bagged by Gaurav Sharma for Madhra, which was again a tasty Himachali Dish, and Leena snapped the third prize for an attractive presentation of her Masala Idli. It was a pleasant experience to see IT Professionals showing their culinary skills.

As the movie started rolling, we were introduced to an epic businesswoman that is Lara’s character, Mihika missing her flight due to a road block caused by a layman, Manu Gupta. But her woes and eventual happiness, are connected to this typical Dilliwala!

Manu’s paan is too big for his mouth, and he has a ‘secret pocket’ for money that can be stolen in no way possible! Although situated in a highly repulsive place, the same pocket comes in handy, when Mihika doesn’t have enough ‘chutta’ to pay for a magazine!

Thus starts the laughter ride that VISIANs go on, as the road trip to Delhi takes one unexpectedly hilarious turn after another. The best thing was the movie had an underlying motive that was given through a constant line delivered by Vinay’s character, “To kaunsi badi baat ho gai?!”

This idea does come through in the end, telling us that a problem is not really as big as we make it to be! The movie definitely had us in tears both with laughter, and sorrow at the revelation made in the end!

After the movie came the photo session, which was thoroughly enjoyable as well! All in all, an exciting day indeed!

So this time, we decided to have an outdoor event and nothing can be better than having a cricket match to encash the IPL Fever. The only idea of playing cricket match ignited the spark in VISians and they were ready to be the next Dhoni’s and Sachin’s. It was decided that we will be having cricket match during the noon time and OMG! It was a surprise to see all the VISians present in the ground and cheering for their team mates. Not to forget our daring team’s names! It was a clash of Virka Warriors and Mighty VISians. Although both teams played really well, but in the end, the winner is the one, who can defeat his competitor. So, the winner trophy was taken home by Mighty VISians.

Every activity is incomplete without a feast, so it was great to have yummy burgers and chilled ice-cream with cold drinks in the pavilion. Those three hours spent in the ground gave us the moment to realize that still, Dil toh Bacha hai jii.
